HH70 – Savinelli R&R with The Balvenie Doublewood and Pappy Van Winkle Bourbon

Category : Havana Hut Episodes

This week the guys try something new and bring you a review of one cigar and pair it with two libations – Jim does a bourbon and Mike a scotch.

This week’s cigar and libation pairing:

Listen now:

Guys-

I had the same unfortunate experience with the Savinelli. The burn was just ugly, and it was just an “OK” cigar. I actually did not finish it.

Chuck one for the record.

Sounds like you smoked the old ryr from their old factory they switched about 8 months ago.. The new ones have a much darker oily wrapper and the construction is perfect.

Could very well be. Unfortunately, the ones we had were the only ones we had available to render an opinion on.

A pity really, but given the fact that Savinelli has been in the cigar biz for awhile now, there really is no excuse for poor quality. It’s not like the first release from a new manufacturer. Their cigar is their calling card and if you put out a bad one, you are asking for trouble (and potentially poor reviews). Glad to hear though that they have cleaned up their act.
