Okay, we are good to go at the proper DNS addresses.

Sorry about the headaches.

We blame it on Congress, which, to quote a comedian, if con is the opposite of pro, then congress must be the opposite of progress.

yeah.  I’ll stick to my day job.

Episode 80 – 2nd Annual Fall TV Roundup

Category : Mind of Men Episodes

This week the guys talk about the Parker’s Heritage 27 tasting at Federal Wine & Spirits in Boston later this week, and Jim shares some humorous stories about his son. Mike then goes off a bit about yard sales (specifically the ones that take place in his front yard).

Next, it’s on to tech with some Vista and Apple notes, more about Google’s Chrome browser, and a new version of the Amazon Kindle.

From there it’s politics. Alan Greenspan weighs in on the McCain tax cut plan, an article sheds light on the “ugly new McCain”, and Dilbert creator, Scott Adams, sponsors a survey of economists to get their take on the upcoming election.

After the break, Mike has done all the research for planning out how to watch all the best guy shows this fall! Listen to the day by day man’s schedule and get your DVR’s ready.

Episode 78 – Election Topic: The Facts on Oil

Category : Mind of Men Episodes

This week launches our first mini-episode where Jim flys solo.  In this episode he talks about a few headline issues for the week and then dives into a look at the ongoing political discussion over Oil – where we get it and how we use it.

This is the first of our election year issues where we do our best to set aside partisan politics and try to take a factual view of a topic that is likely to be in the forefront of the upcoming U.S. Presidential election.  This week we examine some of the topics of debate around oil and try to get an understanding of the facts behind the hype.

We look at the issues surrounding offshore drilling, where we get our oil, the issues around environmental impacts and the question around conservation.

Episode 77 – The Listener Challenge

Category : Mind of Men Episodes

This week the guys discuss a whole lot of tech – some of Jim’s new toys in particular, some musings on Apple, and catch everyone up on the latest news from the political front.

Jim and Mike also discuss their new listener challenge – you opportunity to become a contributor to the Mind of Men Podcast.  Give it a listen and let us know if you have any questions – we’re looking to have more of the community joining us on this podcast.

And of course it was a busy, busy week in politics and though this episode was recorded prior to Obama’s official annoncement on a VP selection, the guys have no problem commenting on both campaigns.

Reminder: We have moved to a bi-weekly Schedule

Category : Mind of Men Episodes

Hey Guys, just a reminder, with the start of Season 3, we have committed to a bi-weekly schedule.  We may do the occasional special extra episode, but we don’t want to commit to that right now.

    Episode 76 – We're Baaaack….

Category : Mind of Men Episodes

Welcome to the first episode of Season Three.  Once again we find ourselves techincally challenged as Mike is vacationing on Cape Cod and the house has neither an Internet connection nor a landline, so once again we are doing this via our Digital Phone Hybrid lashup and Mike is on his cell with limited signal, so apologies for the audio quality.

Anyway, this week we talk about Jim’s recent trip to Newfoundland, Canada, the start of Mike’s vacation, Microsoft’s initiative to address some of the negative press that Vista has gotten, the kickoff of the Olympic games and some of the measures China is taking to combat any kind of disruption to the games.  We then turn our attention to political news this week and discuss the John Edwards debacle as well as Paris Hilton’s campaign commercial.

In our second segment, we share some of the feedback we received from listeners about some of the ideas we have for Season 3 and offer an invitation to everyone in the Mind of Men communiity to become an active participant in the podcast

    Hi Folks,

Just a reminder that because of traveling, we are on hiatus until the week of August 11 (when we will return with the first episode of Season Three)

Just because we are not recording doesn’t mean we are not listening.  We’ve gotten some great feedback since our last episode and we’d love to hear even more from you, so keep the feedback coming to feedback@mindofmen.com and we’ll be back soon enough.

In this episode, Mike and Jim wrap up the 2008 Race for the Triple Crown with the Belmont Stakes, and Jim shares about his visit to Kentucky Bourbon distilleries. Next, Mike scratches his head trying to understand why gas is going up and and down again in 10 cent increments in just a weeks time, and in his next breath wonders out loud why dance recitals have to be so long. The guys then talk about the untimely death of journalist Tim Russert and also observe how unhealth Steve Jobs appeared at last week’s Apple conference.

Then it’s on to politics (should Obama be considering Gore as VP?) and the iPhone 2.0.
